Just thinking about lowering the ride hights of my Polo. If I transport 3 persons in the back (which it is designed for) and particuraly if they are the take away food size variety, on standard springs the rear squats down about the same as my 55mm H&R springs.
Does that mean that the standard shockers are compressing to the bump stop? Me thinks the shockers have been designed to accomodate the extra compression.
Further more, a 55 mm springs are stiffer than a standard spring hence, it does not compress as much as a standard spring thus actually reducing the shocker compression amount? (from the new lower neutral hight)
I put 2 decent size mates in the back of my Polo (with 55mm springs fitted) and guess what, the rear actually felt softer. Me thinks it is because the standard shockers lack rebound control over the 55mm springs, and the extra weight in the car (2 mates), prevents the spring from uncompressing as suddenly.
Thoughts anyone?
