Oh dear, I didn't want to hear that, I HATE knocks and bumps in suspension... Is it indemic of all v1's or just your set? Is KW any use in resolving the issue?

Did you put new stretch bolts and strut tops in? If not, I'd look at them first.

Street comforts are a bit pricier than v1's (I paid $1,332 including shipping from Motorsportworld in the UK) and can't be wound down quite as low (still low enough though, 50mm at the back), but given their intended purpose I would expect that they have a better ride than the v1's (though to what extent I don't know). Gave it a little squirt up the twisties to Peachester on the Sunny Coast this afternoon, was wet so didn't push my luck but still had some decent hustle going, and was quite impressed that they could ride so well and deliver that sort of flat, chuckable handling. The ultimate test will be the bumpy tight corners on Mount Mee, so I will report back when I get a chance to get up there (if it ever stops frikkin raining).

Installed mine last night / this morning and my front left does the same thing ((( I installed all new stretch bolts and such like on both sides. Everything is torqued to the correct values and I installed new strut top mounts and bearings (even tho old ones are only 40k old)

Any suggestions? It's rather unnerving to drive like that, sounds like something is going to come loose, but it's all tight

At the moment it only seems to be the FRHS

Sounds like a spring 'twanging' sound and appears to be when going though a sharp downward motion (pothole etc)

Are they too low perhaps? They are set to just under half

What is the purpose of that little spring at the top, I'm wondering if its moving?

ive had coilovers make this noise in the past, very annoying, it seems to happen when they take a sharp impact? be it up or down, or if you unload a corner and then the next big bump they hit, the noise comes... only way to fix it i found was to re-tighten the main bolt on top of the strut, however it seemed to be a short term fix and within a couple of days the noise would return... not sure if its the same thing you lot are experiencing?

I was all set to purchase some kw v1's as well until I heard of this noise from BLN355 a few weeks back, so now contemplating hr monotubes but unsure if anyones had a bad experience with these too...

its a helper spring, so when the car is jacked up and the coilover comes off load it all doesnt fall apart, i think*

also watch this, i know a mate of mine had a similar problem and apparently this works

Since the springs are still new, have a look if the coils have any marking on them - see if they are hitting each other

This is the first thing I would check as it's quite common and can be rectified.

I've had coilovers that made noises as well and I know the feeling - it's very annoying and could be difficult to diagnose as there are more "moving" parts than your standard suspension.

The other thing is with all the rain, a bit of moisture can sometimes mask the noise a bit - which is what I"ve also experienced. So, just test it out when it's a clear day as well as when wet, just in case.
