Next Q where is the torx bit needed? I never used one when I did my springs. Only drama I had was no tool for the top mount but I used a rattle gun and didn't need to hold the outer part. Or was this for installing the coilovers.

It is at the base where the suspension strut connects to the bearing housing. If you jack up the car you can't miss it. But be careful, it is a stretch bolt.

Removing the suspension and installing the Coilover is the same thing, just in reverse. I didn't want to remove the leaf catcher and wanted used the prescribed 60nm tq, that was required, which is why i didn't want to use a rattle gun. Not keen on over tightening things like that.

I'm assuming i'll need a female torx socket set right?

Is the torx screw connecting the strut to the bearing housing on the rears as well as the fronts?

Male torx piece. The bolt is female.

Just the front. The rear is a basic beam system. Nothing complex.

Have a mate at VW so I got him to bring over the tool to tighten the top.really can't remember the torx at the bottom when I did mine. Only remember the three nuts at the bottom of the lower arm. I just followed the vw Wksp manual.

How do I go about downloading the workshop manual? Or will I need to buy it?
