My guess is coils.
Hi guys
On my way up the coast and lucky this happened as we just started. Driving along and was braking at the lights when the car started to stutter / shake a bit and then the check engine light came on with EPC. Checked oil which was fine and then turned car back on and just engine light was on. Car got towed and will go to the dealership tomorrow..
Anyone know what it could be? Maybe coils or spark plugs? Car is still under warranty so they better sort it out!
My guess is coils.

Could be coils or like me when it happened turned out to be no compression 3rd cylinder.
Possible coils. But my $10 will be on low compression on one of the cylinders with one of your pistons cracking due to fuel quality in Australia... Common issue. Warranty will cover 100% with a rebuild incorp new pistons, injectors, software update and all new gaskets. Hopefully it's just a coil but
Edit: What engine? Polo GTI or regular petrol polo? The GTI suffers from the fuel quality issue, whereas the regular polos then it will just be a coil/lead

Thanks for the reply guys. It's the 2013 gti. If it's the low compression on one of the cylinders what does that exactly mean.. Easy fix or will I be without a car for awhile?
Called fivedock VW today but reception could only tell me that service centre was closed and nothing else I could do until Monday now...
Low compression means internal engine failure, or premature wear, depending who you speak to.
Hope its a quick turn-around.

Melted spark plug, replaced. Collecting tomorrow
The Ecu will need an update as well and the fuel trim values reset. There was a tech bulletin relating to that issue.
