    Sports pack / Paint question

    Hey all,

I've put a deposit on a 77TSI DSG Comfortline (Pepper Grey, comfort/audio pack, carpet floor mats, euro plates, tinting and weather shield) but strongly considering adding the Sports pack. Our local dealer didn't have a non-sports pack 77TSI to try, is there a lot of difference? The one I tried was great on corners but seemed a bit rough on normal roads.

Also, anyone know what the price is for the black metallic paint? Starting to consider this over the Pepper Grey but already pushing my budget

Lastly, anyone get the alarm option? I've never had a car worth enough to bother but maybe I should

The reason why i decided to get the sport instead of the comfort pack, was the added sports suspension and 17" wheels. The suspension provided better control over the car. And the wheels gave the car a sporty look.

The cost of the metallic paint is fixed : $500. So it doesn't matter if u switch from Pepper Gray too Black, the price would be the same. But i would advise you to contact your dealer asap about the colour change.

The cars are fixed with immobilisers, an alarm is just there for personal reassurance. If someone hypothetically was to smash into your car, they would grab the items, and wouldn't care about the alarm. Either way you still lose.

Mine has a sports pack. I love the look, and enjoy the way it handles, but for me the ride is definitely on the harsh side. Gotta take it down to 20kmph or less on a serious road hump.

You are buying a small car, so don't expect a limo type ride. I have a sports pack which I found to be very compliant and leans into corners, I would never describe it as rough. I have since lowered the car, it is now a bit stiff and slightly bouncy but goes around corners like a go cart. I have had sports cars or cars with sports suspension since I started driving so I appreciate a good handling stiffly sprung car.

I also have an alarm, it was already in the car and would not have got it otherwise.

Thanks everyone. Ended up adding on the sports pack but left the colour.

    Now, the long wait begins

Slightly off topic, but is it possible to have the 17inch wheels without the sports pack? I perfer the look of the 17's over the standard 15's but would much rather a better ride than outright handling.

It is probably not possible as a factory option, but could be arranged between you and the dealer as a dealer accessory. It may not be able to be the same wheels though.... and depending on the accessory costs, and what arrangement the dealer is able to come up with for you, it can sometimes be cheaper to just go for aftermarket wheels...

Somewhat related question, is the suspension dramatically lower or is it just to offset the larger wheels?

Thanks, will be going for a Test Drive in a couple of weeks, will ask about 17inch wheels without Sports Pack, otherwise, will simply go with base wheels and as you say can always go the aftermarket option in the future.

I think the suspension is the same, only the wheels are bigger.
