Wow, So... yeah maybe Im jaded but the idea that my Sydney dealer would ever come in under any quote by more than a few cents and also replace items like wipers in the price is seriously beyond me. Im now considering a trip to Albury and having my next service done with your lot I think, my wipers are seriously crappy, have been since about 6months old and the dealer said they all are like that and shrugged. Luckily it doesnt rain much in Aus, or maybe thats the problem LOL.

Anyway, I agree $423 for a Tsi seems a lot of coin for not much work, you should defo be able to beat that price by shopping around, a few calls could save the OP some money.

I need new wipers. Wow... I paid $7 for a new set on my BMW M5. They want $55 straight from Bosch for these "Aerodon'tlast" wipers.

    Sick of new cars....

Can replace the rubbers on aero wipers. There's a wiper thread somewhere. (I use Trico TTR-610. Takes a bit of fiddling because they are a bit tight on the metal stiffener - need lube.)

Depends - I know you can replace the rubbers with the ones VW use but for example with the Valeo wipers on my Megane you cannot replace just the rubber due to the way they're designed. Dealer wanted some ridiculous (over $200) amount of money for genuine replacements so the $55 for Bosch ones seemed like a bargain.

I complained about them changing the cap price service when I bought mine in January and it was changed soon after. As a result my 1st service will be the 2014 price

Why are you not getting them replaced under warranty if they are crappy and the car is 6 months old?

BUT mine were rubbish too but in the WA winter new, they are wipping great! Maybe they just need a bit of rain to settle in or something?

The car is now over 3 years old. At 6 months when I mentioned the wipers the dealer said its not the wiper its the dirt on them and the screen - hence no replacements. And you can see my posts on the wipers threads that i cleaned them and did all sorts of wipes to the screen and that fixes them for a short time, but later the judder and smearing returns, they is what they is it seems if you leave your car outside like I do.

    Hi guys,

My Polo was bought from Solitaire Autos. However Southern Volkswagen have indicated they can do a considerably better price plus throw in a free loan car (Solitaire charge $45/day). Anyone have any feedback for me about what I might be getting myself into here? I understand Southern are an authorised VW dealer but my only issue is whether this will negatively affect resale value, and secondly, whether this could potentially open a can of worms in the event something goes wrong (if Solitaire start blaming Southern for an issue or vice versa). Although IIRC any warranty issue I can take it to either of them so not sure if this will really matter?

Thanks guys. First service so a bit antsier than usual!
