Wow... Arrogant. Are Toyota salesman so jaded by selling Corollas and Camrys that a sports model has sent them mad?

I laugh when I see the pricing of the 86. Sure the "list" price is under $30k but they seem to be selling anywhere between $35-45k. Perhaps dealers are just ordering the, with options so they can sell them for more? And if you want the $30k model it'll be a 18 month wait, thanks very much

^^^^ I remember certain VW dealers being exactly the same. Didn't give a $h!t about anyone because the POLO GTI was rare as hens teeth, and yes, they were trying to sell demo models for more than new due to the shortage. In any case, IMHO the Toyota and Subaru cars look great, but the engine is certainly overrated.

I honestly don't see what the hype is about the Toyota 86. I haven't driven one but from the figures, it seems pretty gutless and the interior looks very plasticky. I would wait until Nissan release their small sports model to rival the 86..

Not sure about other people's opinion but for mine the current Golf GTI isn't really worth the extra $10k+ over the Polo GTI. Perhaps the new one will be a different story? VW kicked a massive goal with the Polo GTI... I'm sure they'll be looking to give the Golf owners forking out the extra $$$ more bang for their buck.

My 77TSI is coming up to 2 years and 40,000km's I saw the prices of the entry level Golf VII will be about $1000+ less than the current 77TSI model. I was thinking before depreciation really kills the car value I might trade it, although I'm not sure on what... it's a good car but I have a $600+ service coming and tyres so maybe it's time

Trade value is probably poor but private I might get $17,000 - $18,000

It'll be good if VW skips facelifting the 6R and just goes to a MQB based model and it has the same value and features vs golf that the 6R has.

They need to hold off on any new gti release until they can get some reliability. The oil consumption and dsg issues are killing the brand's credibility. As a 25yr VW fan I find it embarrassing. I think there is also room for a gt version (without an i). There's a long way between 77kW and 132kW. Build me a softly sprung 105kW polo with lounge chair seating, standard RNS510, rvc, and manual transmission and a factory endorsed worry free 3yr warranty, priced halfway between 77tsi and the gti. I'll put my deposit down tomorrow. REAL LEATHER seats would be a sexy option. Some interesting colours would be nice too.

You just described the Polo BlueGT

It runs off the 1.4T that's going in the MK7 Golf and has most of the GTI features in it and some of its own. Doesn't seem to be coming here though.
