Thats why I pay the extra dosh for NRMA...
My Golf got hail damaged a couple of years ago, and I was shocked at how deep the dents were, even on the rounded crease where the roof meets the top of the doors. The force of the hailstones must have been incredible to inflict so much damage on such a strong part of the body. Anyway, the assessor was from Qld and after poring over the car with his colleagues quite a bit he told me that the *only* reason it was being written off was because they couldn't get a new roof panel laser welded here in WA. He told me point blank that if the car were in Qld it would have been repaired rather than written off. I suspect the car ended up over east as I searched for it high and low in local auctions but it never showed up. It was a great car, and I was sorely tempted to buy it back and never have to worry about another door ding again.
Well if the car gets written off , it will be a fantastic buy from the auctions i suspect it could fetch between $10-$15k . As the engine is a pearler with no oil issues. You could just drive it and enjoy .
No update yet, still waiting on AAMI . But starting to look around at replacements. Have come full circle back to a polo gti , thinking flash red with xenon led comfort pack and leather or white with just a comfort pack. What do you think?
Geez are they screwing you around or what! Are they giving you any reason for the delay?
After my roo incident, the car went AAMI for assessment on 5th Jan, got assessed, and was sent to chosen repairer on the 6th Jan.
Yeah they are dragging their feet big time!
Are you doing new for old or a payout?
AAMI could be doing the ring around trying to find a suitable replacement. Once they can't find one they will do a payout (i assume).
