Hey all, bring this thread back as I want to buy roof racks too.

Has anyone tried these ones? Rhino-Rack 2500 Sportz Roof Rack | Removable Roof Rack | Roof Rack City

I want ones that fit flush with the edge of the car, I don't like the look of the ones that overhang. Would prefer quiet ones too. I had Prorack Whispbar's on my old Commodore that we're quiet but I don't think there's one that would fit the Polo

    Any suggestions?

Thanks to this thread I knew exactly what I needed! I chose the Thule aero bars only because I bought them second hand for cheap. The GL 754 foot pack is the main one for gutter-less cars (pretty sure - correct me if I am wrong).

Sorry for the poor quality photos, took it on my gf's old iPhone. Will post up more photos with different bikes on it soon.

I have a Rola bike carrier btw - doing the job fine for my roadie, am yet to try my 29er dualie.

Noise - not too bad under 60km/h, maybe because I don't mind the winding sound it produces. Above 80km/h hardly notice it even with front windows down.

Fuel economy - haven't driven far enough to really notice.

I had aero bars on my Subaru so I just got the feet pack for the polo. They are rather noisy. They never made a sound on the subby with a roof box but on the polo without anything attached its very noticeable. May have to upgrade to the wings. Or find a good deflector.

Since we're posting up pics of polos with stuff on the roof, here's my babies - all three of them:

Thule Aero Bars - don't notice any real increase in noise without the bikes. Two bikes doubles the fuel consumption though...

Nice bikes ecks! Am I allowed to ask what they are? I'll add what are their combined weights? Just referring to fuel consumption and staying on topic

One is a 2007 GT DHi - The big ugly white thing.
The other is a 2006 GT Chucker 2.0

The Downhill rig weighs in at about 18Kgs, I haven't actually weighed the hardtail. I'd be surprised if it came in at more than 11Kgs though...

The fuel consumption is right on 8L/100Km with those two suckers up there! Really messes with the aero...

Oh, and they're wingbars, not aero...
