On any VW other than a polo Whispbar - The Quietest Removable Roof Racks and Rack Accessories for The Great Outdoors
I've got them on my mitsubishi and they are dead silent.

I am getting Thule wing bars fitted in a few days time so will post a pic with the new rack on my black GTI.
Also going to get 2 x Thule 591 bike carriers on there too. I'm sure the GTI will look quite comical with 2 upright bikes on top! I dont have a garage at the moment so no chance of the dreaded bike vs top of garage collision.
I had aero bars on my Subaru so I just got the feet pack for the polo. They are rather noisy. They never made a sound on the subby with a roof box but on the polo without anything attached its very noticeable. May have to upgrade to the wings. Or find a good deflector.
Nice bikes ecks! Am I allowed to ask what they are? I'll add what are their combined weights? Just referring to fuel consumption and staying on topic

The Downhill rig weighs in at about 18Kgs, I haven't actually weighed the hardtail. I'd be surprised if it came in at more than 11Kgs though...
The fuel consumption is right on 8L/100Km with those two suckers up there! Really messes with the aero...
Oh, and they're wingbars, not aero...
