I removed a cover in the place where the mic sits before installing the mic in my Polo.
    Could that be the reason?

Depends on your needs. I'm quite happy with an external GPS unit partly because I'm right handed so I type in new addresses quicker when i'm driving when I have the unit mounted on my right.
So I got one of these off ebay for 350 seeing as I didn't get the audio pack when I ordered. Took 10 minutes to install, and if you get one of the newer units is not plagued with issues like slow reading SD cards (mine reads in less than 3 seconds for a 16 gb card thats 3/4 full, arranged in subfolders of artists and then albums). I found that with the fast reading SD card I did not miss the MDI capabilities at all which I don't have.

functionality over standard rcd 310, you gain 5 extra CDs, SD card and a nice big screen which just looks better.

So I bought the RCD 10 on eBay for $350
    And $20 postage from Melbourne...

I don't need GPS so I'm just happy with a touch screen radio. Hope the memory card reader won't be too slow to read and I'll also get Bluetooth as well! iPhone connectivity I have with a cable so should be ok to play music...

exactly what I paid for mine. And as long as your unit is recent you won't have any problems with SD Card.

Bear in mind there are many ratings for SD Card, and simply assuming Class 10 is a fast card is wrong, as Class 10 is the highest class specification, but you can get many speeds of class 10.

I have a Sandisk HDVideo 30mb/sec card, its about twice as fast as other class 10 cards I have found and works flawlessly.

Will ask now how old the unit is..... Is there any specs or details on how news it should be? Model or code?

New unit is working great! Confusing that I still have to use my iPhone in had when connected to AUX input....

Also, I cannot flip through the stations (Numbered 1-6 set on the radio) through the steering wheel like I could with stock radio! Any reason why?

I have a question as well. See below image? This appears when I turn off the engine.. it's done it three times... what is it? "TIM SETTINGS" It scans through the stations?

I think it's to do with the Traffic Information Management system and recording traffic messages (or something like that). I just googled it.

Mine actually did it to me yesterday, first time I've seen it......!
