The GTI comes with Climatic, which means you need to manually set temperature, fan speed and vent outlets.

I gather that changes when you option the Comfort Pack...

I was wondering the same thing - perhaps the best thing to do is to use ETKA and compare the aircon systems component by component... If you have climatic (semi-auto type) I'm quite positive one of the two sensors is already installed in the dashboard.

What controls the vent position (face, feet etc) on the Climatronic? Surely that will be missing on the Climatic/Manual system.

That's a very good point - on the climatic this is done mechanically (via cable), whereas I suspect that climatronic does this electrically like in a Golf 6.

Although I have climatic I can hear a motor working in my polo 6r when I select air distribution. Mechanical switch with electric control?

Uh, I think the vent position (i.e. feet, face, windscreen, etc) is mechanical, judging on the sound and feel when changing the setting. Perhaps I need to check this again when I get my car back.

On the other hand, the air recirculation setup is definitely electric, I remember hearing a motor when I push the recirculation button on the climatic controls (next to AC)...

Would have liked have fitted this but there is just to many questions around how the manual and auto systems work.

To my knowledge just to purchase the unit it's around $800 AU... which is also ridiculous,.
