    Remote control to unlock

hi all, just curious about another observation I've made, nothing serious but just curious about this.

My polo tsi remote, I have to press the unlock button twice to unlock all the doors; pressing the unlock button once only unlock the driver's door.

I got the chance to drive a MK VI golf today, pressing the unlock button once unlock all the doors .

Is this something that can be re-programmed at the dealer?

    Hi,

That seems strange to me, the polo TDI you definitely just press unlock once and all doors are opened, don't know about TSI but I can't imagine that would be different between the two models.

Hmm maybe it's a local programming thing? Certainly I was under the impression that pressing unlock once opened up everything for all the polo models (at least in Australia)...

Hopefully a tsi owner can confirm whether it's all of them or if it just seems to be yours... might be a question to ask the dealer though

This has long been a safety/convenience feature of many European cars. It's so that you can enter your car without someone else unwantedly jumping in the otherside.

You can chose whether 1 press opens all doors or just the drivers door by looking in the "Convenience" menu on the MFI (I think it's under convenience). It's fully detailed in your owners manual

I do recommend you guys look through your owners manual, as you're probably both missing out on other cool features of your VW's (even if you've been driving for 50 years or owned 50 cars...)

Are you referring to me? If so, I have no idea what you mean.

I'm just surprised that it's different between golf and polo.

I'm guessed it must be for safety reason and I quite like it, except that I still often forget to press twice when it's more than just me getting into the car.

Corey I don't think there's a "convenience" menu in the Polo MFI and I did read the menu the day I got my new polo, it was so exciting as it was my first new car and the manual is in English and not japanese. I shall read it again just to see if I can change it myself.

Corey, I think this is only available to do yourself on the "Highline" MFi, which only comes on the GTI....

Soulighter, if you know someone with a VAGCOM unit, they could change this for you I think, otherwise, it's a dealer operation to remove this feature.

Maybe... not sure what guys running around on povo-spec cars get or not! But yes, you could swap it with VCDS or get the dealer to adjust it for you in that case
