Hi all, how about a reliability survey. Would be good to see some replies. Good or bad your Polo ?
Have a 77TSI 2011 Comfortline + sport pack, still love this car & intend to keep her for another 10 years, so looking after.
Goes faster & handles better than my skill to push to max, & keep my licence.!
The engine still goes like new (no chain or tensioner issues like they say.) Maybe I'm lucky.
Has ECU upgrade since early, so I usually use 98 RON fuel, goes better, cost diff minimal in the scheme of things.
I use good local mechanic with VW experience, not the stealer.!
Always use proper spec oil in regular change 1 year interval. Now doing at 1.5 year, doing less miles.
Have been riding bicycle how for many trips lately, gets me fitter & fun too.
If you drive a VW, & get a bicycle, get one of equivalent quality, is worth it. Don't buy cheap rubbish. $1-2k or so OK.
However, here a the faults I have had in now 9 years
Worst fault= ESP warning multiple fail, fixed now by cleaning the sensor rings properly, replaced both rear sensors, probably unnecessarily.
Broken mirror control at 5 yrs, got replacement <$10 from aliexpress, better quality than original, easy to replace.
Headlining fell down at 9 years (grrr), $300 for new at specialist, good job = better than new. They think original glue designed for cold climate, not handle the heat in Darwin.
LCD display on radio RCD310 has failed just recently, gone dark, can just read. Have ordered $100 chinese replacement 2DIN with proper colour touch screen & rear camera. I'll let you all know how it goes ??
Rear suspension bump stops are badly perished (though not critical component), to replace at 10 year service. About $100
At 10 years service I will pressure flush & replace coolant, though not in service schedule, but I think necessary !
Cheers all, & happy covit times, at least in Darwin
PS: Toghh sht vics - comply & stay home.
