Well Gavs, my experience is that would be the wrong decision. I have sold my white 2010 Mk6 Golf 90TSI Trendline manual with comfort pack and bought a new white Mk7 Golf 90TSI manual base model and have already done 4000+km. There is not one thing about the new one that is not better than the old one. Disregarding all the things you expect from a newer design such as the better ride, handling, steering, quietness, performance, brakes, economy, more room, more standard equipment etc, this new one does not use any oil (the Mk6 used around 1L/3000km throughout its 112,000km life) and it doesn't have a single rattle, buzz, groan or build quality issue. In fact it's the first new car I've had that appears to be perfect - I can't find a build fault anywhere. Even the paint appears flawless. And it's just a real advance over the Mk6 to drive. The whole structure feels so much stronger, panel gaps are so even and the interior assembly is just so neat with perfect joins and assembly. My last 3 Jap built cars couldn't come anywhere near the build quality that this car shows. And all this cost me over $4000 less than I paid for my Mk6 3 years ago. And now all I can hope is that bloody turbo doesn't die like it did on the Mk6.

And the final bonus - it just looks better/sharper, both inside and out.

    Recall Depreciation - Sell ?

Happy for you mate, but I disagree strongly with your last comment I thinks it's a regression rather than progression in design but that's just me

Apart from the tail lights...it merely looks like a larger version of the Polo 6R. Just my opinion.

Is that a bad thing? I still love the look of the Polo 6r so a bigger version is a win win!

I always loved the Polo but the it's just been a little baby version of the Golf. I'll be doing a lot of comparisons once mine arrives... should be interesting.

I just think the 6r is such a unique looking little car yet it appears they've done a half as#ed job of redesigning the new golf to accommodate this appeal. Me not likey.

The Polo is going to get a facelift VERY soon too. Should be shown at the frankfurt show september... They're saying new headlights, taillights and dash.

Some new engines too, who knows if they'll change the GTI's though.

    New dashboard? Don't think so.
    New engines? perhaps.

To understand how minor these changes could be you only need to look at its sibling - Seat Ibiza. It just had its midlife tweak.
