    Fair enough.

I was thinking i'd just do it next service and the car doesn't seem to have any problems at the moment (touch wood).

For me the reality is it has been a good reliable car from purchase to date (again touch wood). Was going to ditch it after the warranty expires given the concern but given the devaulation, I'll just keep it.

I'm not going to bother with an extended warranty, i'd be guessing those prices are now through the roof if they are even being offered anymore.

Note to self: keep wood in the car for constant good luck.

So I got the recall done to my car today, lucky for me I got in pretty soon. Drove it out of the shop and straight away I noticed an immediate shudder in the early gears, I mentioned this to the service tech he informed me that they have to do a 100km check and then check again at 200km because it takes a while for the gearbox to recalculate the gear ratios again.

Anywho went to check out a Golf straight after and I'm in two minds about selling and getting a Golf. The Polo is just so unique, agile and speedy. I'm still considering selling it just need to snap up a good deal on a Golf. Also considering a tune which would be a cheaper option but maybe not so smart long term.

Was at the local dealer today to get some parts for a mates bora.
Out the front they had a white polo gti only option was leather. It was a 2011 and I'd say a early one as it didn't have the stupid Bluetooth on the dash. It has just shy of 25k km on the clock and they wanted $29990
It had one wheel badly scratched and the tyres hadn't been rotated so the front where nearly bald.

I wonder what they gave trade in on it.

    Hey Bassik, just curious

    Did they replace your clutches?
If so did they supply a part number...

I'm amazed they did yours so quickly, I haven't received a call / second letter as of yet.

As per the above post, did they change your clutch pack as well?

When they replaced mine for the third time (via a whole new DSG) they kept the car and drove it for the 100-200kms so they could get the gears right.

the problem is when they fix it and you drive it home - it feels great and responsive - but then it learns and goes back to boring!

Recalculate gear ratios huh?! I laughed so hard at that, some wee came out! Gear ratios are determine by the diameter of the gears WHEN THEY ARE CUT OUT OF METAL. A mechatronics unit can't recalculate a gear ratio because the gear ratios are set in well, not stone but metal!

They wonder why they have such a bad reputation. I was taught something very valuable by my grandfather and that was this: If you don't know what the hell you're talking about, then keep ones mouth shut!

The clutches will need to do an adaptation but there should be no shuddering once its done because everything should be working Mickey Mouse, after the effects of the adaptation has worn off, then they should start shuddering. Id say clamp forces on the clutch actuators isn't high enough and it's highlighting defects in the clutches in the car, either due to the new software being (again) defective or a dodgy mechatronics unit being installed.

Did you get a recall sticker inside the drivers side door? If so, what code is written on it?

I know the services guys never know what they are talking about. Honestly I'm no better though, I tend to second guess their expertise but normally seek advice elsewhere.

I haven't see anything on the driver door will look this afternoon. I recall the campaign number something QC277 or 200 can't remember. DSG is smoother but the shuddering is still apparent. Just means ill need to bring it back before selling.
