to revive an old thread instead of making a new one....
can anyone suggest somewhere in sydney for a rear muffler delete? will be heading up that way soon and though i might try get one done again as i failed at it on my Melbourne trip. and if all else fails i may have to have a look around albury to see what i can find, but would prefer to go somewhere recommended first if i happen to be in the area.
cheers,
Ben

Ok, so ive been use to straight pipes on my old silvia, which idled at 94db. So sound wont be an issue to me. Has anyone actually taken out both mid and rear muffler on their gti 6r? I am have tempted to take the rear muffler out as well..
I came across this video and started drooling..

First of all I can say is all the greenies should die in hell (to any greenies on here please take FULL offence) Seriously if we didn't have to pay more for power (and everything else) now they want to take the fun out of cars.
Also why I wouldn't be concerned with my Polo:
1. The 1.2 TSI motor without the muffler (keeping a stock pipe size 51mm) doesn't break any laws as it is under 95-98 DB at 6000rpm at 1 metre distance (35 degrees from the tailpipe). Actually the joke is on them because the exhaust IS noisier but only between 2000-2200 rpm where it does step up to about 99 or so DB. But because its outside of their testing criteria it doesn't count. Also they are giving up to 5 DB more than the original but good luck them determining what that is for every stock car out there - what co*ks.
Also would just like to point out a mate changed over his muffler (to a smaller one) on his old 1980's 2.0L Camry and its now louder than my Polo with NO muffler so it just goes to show how quiet these 1.2T motors are.
And I laugh at the fact that they want to ban cars which bellow smoke more than 10 seconds. Guess what, when I gun it from 0-100 onto the freeway or up the mountains I'm bellowing smoke non stop so suck on that and its stock, can't wait for a tune!! hahaha
Should just buy a massive V8 just to burn fuel I think...
One thing that has ALWAYS bewildered me beyond logic is how the hell do the sound levels being blurted out by Harley Davidson bikes tearing through Melbourne CBD get overlooked?
Which groups mainly own HD's?...thought so, the EPA would pee themselves.
We're the soft target...if this gets a leg up, all I can say is the epa better be prepared for law suits...not from consumers...but from manufacturers.
Also on Greenies they can affix their mouth on my exhaust pipe.
