    Rattle From Glovebox? Read on!

I heard a rather annoying rattle from my glovebox driving to work today, when I got in I spent a bit of time looking inside. I noticed the vent inside the glovebox, when fully closed, has a lot of play in it which would allow it to make a rattle noise when driving. I clicked it back one notch and it seemed firm, went for a drive and the rattle was gone.

I'll chat to the dealership about it at first service to see if they can replace the vent as my solution, while it works, is not ideal.

Hope this helps someone else with a glovebox area rattle!

Audience participation: is your glovebox vent loose when in the fully closed position? Loose as in has a lot of free play in it compared with when set to closed.

No issues here, no rattles in the car either except the fuel / aircon line rattle in the engine bay.

So just to clarify, for all those who don't have a rattle, is the vent tight when fully closed or fully open. as in, no movement in it when you move it in either full position?

Tight as a fish's bum for those who do have the rattle, are there 3 door models and gti's in there? It could be a quality control issue with the SA plant perhaps...

For the record, I have an iPod in the glovebox, have had it there since the first day I picked up the car and my glovebox has never spotaneously opened.
