    Rain Sensing Wipers NOT

    Hi Guys,
Took my 66TDI (with comfort pack) for its 15k service, have always had an issue with the rain sensing wipers (they don't rain sense), my dealer tells me my Polo is not fitted with rain sensing wipers and wont be as its a factory option. They showed me the sensor on the front windscreen which does not have the magic "5th" diamond. I am waiting on the sales person to ring me back as to what we do now. Those of you with the comfort pack know its at least a $500 option. What do you think the dealer should do!!!!!!

    Thanks

That sounds a bit to easy for the dealer, I was thinking of having bluetooth fitted by the dealer.

mine weren't working either when i got the car, took the car back and it was just a coding issue, they had not been activated yet on the car, which they did there and then and didn't cost me a cent.. In fact they did that and saw the car had a update for the ecu as well...

If the sensors are there on the windscreen and you have the suto wipers stalk, then most likely it is a coding issue, i.e. not being activated at the dealer.

Anyone with a VAGCOm can activate this for you, hit someone up locally that might have one, they will tell you straight up if it can or can't be activated. If it comes up with "Error: Coding not present" then generally, they haven't installed the right setup in your car, which should mean a refund from the dealer or at least an adequate compensation. After all, it was in your contract f sale and they have, theoretically, reneged on that contract by providing you with an incorrect vehicle....

Thanks Gavs, The dealer tells me (and showed me) the base of the rear view mirror (as seen from out side the car) has a pattern of diamonds, apparently there should be 5 diamonds (4 in a square with one in the middle) the middle one is the rain sensor, I dont have that one.
What do you mean by the auto wiper stalk?? The one I have has the small adjusting thing on the top, which by reading the book either gives you a change of intermittent wipe time or changes the sensitivity of the rain sensor!!
I like your idea about reneging on the contract but I don't want to give the car up......except for another Polo.

    Just confirmed with my dealer,
"The manuals are generic for worldwide production so things can be different region to region. All current models in Australia with rain sensors have the four diamond's."

Anyone in Perth area with a VAGCOm to check settings?
