    Question based on Sticky #2

    My Polo is a 6R1 ver 3F2, built 10/2010.

Based on Sticky #2, is this vehicle model MY11 or something else?

I noted the observation that VW switched to forged pistons after several model iterations. Why did VW do this?

Only on the GTI. The change coincided with the vast amounts of oil burning cars needing piston replacement. Apparently a few examples of destroyed pistons showed the cast originals not to be strong enough. The change over happened in late 2011 so on MY12 vehicles from memory.
