With the Polo you can tell your mates you have a car that's supercharged and turbocharged

Not sure how traction in the Polo would go - with my Golf I already struggle with quick starts

Concerns about engine/7spd DSG reliability, oil consumption. Golf's 6spd DSG has a $1200+ service costs every 60,000kms though.

Fair enough and I understand that, but I only wanted to see if people who have bought a Polo Gti were previously thinking about getting a Golf gti, and hence, what were the main reasons to go towards the Polo over the golf.

    Thanks everyone for the comments

We went Polo over Golf for 2 reasons.

    Cheaper.
    Better fuel economy.

Yeah the price seems to be the most common pro for the polo atm. Just didn't realise they haven't got a manual option for the latest polo gti's though...

Went through the same choice and decided on the Golf. Instant availability of the Golf and the Polo feeling a little small for me was the clincher.

Right, time for a clean up of this thread me thinks...

On topic people, the original question seems to be answered already as the OP didn't realise the polo was DSG only and therefore is out of the running, correct? If so I will lock the thread.

Hi, we did the golf v polo comparison and bought the polo. It was cheaper, felt zippy-er and space-wise was comparable to older golfs and other small cars. We have had 5 adults in the Polo in comfort, and can fit two bicycles in the back with the seat folded down ... And there's the exclusivity angle.

    Ours is a great car!
