    Power drop at high rpm.

I have just brought a polo trendline which has the 1.4 dohc na motor and i have noticed a massive drop in power at high rpms. I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this happen to their trendline.

The 1.4 has a fairly limited power band available to it, the motor could just be running out of puff at high rpms. To be sure though, take it to a Vw dealer but to be honest, the 1.4 doesn't really sing to the redline anyway.

I work at a vw dealler lol. For a 1.4 it pulls really well through the mid range but then drops off. They think its due to the exhaust manifold being quite small and the engine not breathing as well as it could.

Are you saying it has changed? did the car you test drove have this power drop?
Not helpful, but it's a 1.4 NA, its not going to pull hard all the way through the rev range...
