    Possible defection

I've been speaking with the lease company about the blow out in the delivery for the polo and have asked the question about swapping to a Golf - GTi of course.

I can have the golf NOW instead of "we hope in september but maybe 2012".

To this end, we went off today and had a look at a Golf GTI Addidas edition, which has the bi xenon lights, bluetooth and MDI fitted from the factory. The one on the floor also has the parking sensors as well as the park assist, although I'm not sure about the latter as I've seen the required driving position in the VW add - I'd look silly waving my hands around like that....

Took the demo GTi for a run and it's a lovely thing to drive. Very impressed with it, but not quite as nice as the Polo - the instant grunt provided by the supercharger is impressive to say the least. The extra capacity of the Golf doesn't quite have the initial 'bite' of the 1.4 TSI does, and at 132kw V 155kw there's not a lot in it.

So, a look at the figures for the lease and if it's good enough, I'm possibily going to the dark side.... I'll know tomorrow night one way or the other.

I'd go the Golf if price isn't an issue. I just cant justify the 12-15k increase when the Polo matches it for the most part!

I had exactly the same dilemma as you and went down the golf GTI path. I can tell you that the build quality, fit and finish, not to mention standard features that you dont get on the polo made it am easier choice. Took delivery of my golf last week off the boat. AMAZING car. DO IT. S

Brian, if you can't wait, go for it mate. Just enjoy it when some mug in a polo gti shows you up at the lights or on a twisty mountain road one day

Ultimatley, I would have gotten the golf if I could have afforded it but damn the polo makes an aggresive argument agains t a $15k premium for a bit of extra room!

The life of Brian, where people think that Golfs eat Polos. But the reality is somewhat different

Haha, I'd love to see a Polo GTI keep up to my brothers Mk6 GTI.

Polo GTI is great car and I am yet to drive the new one - have had a decent look at it though, but I have driven the previous one (son has one). I have also had two Golf GTI's (Mk5 & 6) and am awaiting another Mk6 GTI (first Mk6 written off). The new Polo GTI may have the same 0-100 times, but it is not the same quality car. For those that cannot afford the Golf GTI enjoy the Polo GTI, but if you have the cash there is nothing better than the Golf GTI. I do have a new Polo but unfortunately no Polo GTIs were around when my wife wanted a new car, so a Polo 77TSI had to do.
