Popped a Tyre From a Pot Hole.... need a replacement!!! ASAP

Hey guys,

This always happens when I get a new car. Yesterday driving on the road I hit a pot hole which completely ruined my left front tyre. I'm gunna complain to council about this but that's another story.

Issue is now that I can't get a replacement Dunlop wheel as they don't have the stock wheel in Australia until 3 weeks. I'm going to need a replacement and was wanting to know if anyone knows of a pretty close match to stock?

I can't drive around in a temp tyre for 3 weeks and don't want to spend money on something cheap before waiting the 3 weeks.

The dunlop SP Sport Maxx is a fairly unique tyre hence the availability issues. Dont forget also running mis-matched tyres other than a dedicated spare wheel is un-roadworthy. I would be searching for used tyre dealers and seeing if they have any....

This is only the case when it comes to the wheels that steer the car, in most cases obviously the front

It is not illegal to run mis matched tread patterns on the rear of the car.

I think there is some confusion here regarding what the regulations stipulate.

Tyres on a given axle must be of the same construction (either radial or cross-ply) and size (215/40 R17) - that's it.

It is of course, best practice and recommended that all tyres on a vehicle be of the same make and model, but it is not a requirement.

Do a search on eBay (type 215 40 17 in the search box). Tempe Tyres has your tyre for $215, and you may (or may not) get a cheaper price if you visit or call in person (avoids them paying eBay fees).

Yeah I did this and they said $200. Which I have no idea if it's a good price but I guess I have no choice. Question is is it ok to have a full tread tyre and a half tread tyre?
