Popped a Tyre From a Pot Hole.... need a replacement!!! ASAP

I found a guy on the forums that can send me one for $100 from Perth with 6 months ware on it.

Just need to find a courier?

$200 is a pretty decent price for one of these tyres new! It's due to the dopey rare size of the tyre, 205/40 R17 isn't a common size.

RE: Deisel_vert, I thought this until I had a certificate of roadworthyness rejected on my previous vehicle (Mk4 Golf) due to running one Khumo KU-31 and one Dunlop SP Sport 2000, both the same size. I'm hoping you are correct however because I thought the guy was a bit of a knob, he also did me because he thought my rear rotors were too thin, yet they still fell into spec!

I think there is some confusion here regarding what the regulations stipulate.

Tyres on a given axle must be of the same construction (either radial or cross-ply) and size (215/40 R17) - that's it.

It is of course, best practice and recommended that all tyres on a vehicle be of the same make and model, but it is not a requirement.

I think you'll find that they have to be the same tread pattern too...

That's absolute nonsense - the clueless inspector doesn't know what they're talking about.

Wheels and Tyres

For vehicles up to 4.5 tonne GVM fitted with passenger car tyres and manufactured after
1 January 1973, all tyres fitted to the road wheels must be of the same carcass construction
(i.e. radial ply, cross ply, bias belted, etc) but may have a different tread pattern.

It will cost you $50-80 to get it couriered over from WA to NSW - and all for a 2nd hand tyre. Dont bother, just buy one from Tempe Tyres for $200.

I started with the Dunlop dealers for my search, none of them had any stock and wouldn't until July. One suggested contacting one of the larger retailers that may have had some and that's where I came up with the above.

I'd only done 6000ks so there wasn't much differece in tread between the remaining front tyre and the replacement.

Yeah I might go ahead and get the new ones... Only difference is that these are 87Z's and the Tempe ones are 87v's difference is that there top speed is 240 and the stock are 275km. I honestly don't know if it makes a huge difference but the ones from Tempe aren't fitted.

I'm also gunna need a wheel alignment to coz I'm pulling to the left heaps. I haven't even looked at the "cannot do a wheel alignment on 6r" thread yet. Also DSG is playing up again. Man don't haven't a fun time with this new car at all.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the tyres currently on your car have a speed index of V - which is 240 km/h.
