Doubt it. The A45 is going to be in a different league to the M135i. I'm still betting on closer to $100k

Actually I sold it last night to a family friend and broke even (no loss/gain).

So it has gone to a good home

Well, any GTI owner considering one of these would find it comforting that they are likely to get a $8000 trade in....

Would that be in part because some Gti's are lemons? :/

Not it isn't, the M135i is only down 20kW and has the same torque. 4.9 to 100 (A45 4.6). Why should the A45 cost a massive 20K more?

    Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG: circa $80K, circa 265kW | CarAdvice
Sure, it will start around $80k, thats what I said before. But like all euro cars once you start ticking option boxes the price soars.

Plus, look at the price gap in all the Benz models between the highest model "regular" Benz and the AMG version.

Add to that that a lot of dealers may well order the cars with extras, so these will affect the price of any floor stock. If you want an $80k A45 my money says you'll have to special order it and it will take a loooong time to get here.

From memory a nil optioned M135i was around $84-85k on the road when I went to have a look at them pre-xmas. Wouldn't take much to hot six figures, although I can't recall what options were left over, it was reasonably well kitted.

I'd expect the A45 to probably be around this mark as well, if they price it anything like the A250 though it could undercut BMW here as well, although I doubt it.

Sad this project won't be going ahead tho......

Options? What options? Even the A250 has limited options availability - basically, sat nav, sat nav + stereo upgrade, full leather (and powered seats). Everything else is standard - HID, panoramic sunroof etc etc. I think the total option pack list runs to about $8K.
