Golf GTI is good. Skoda 118tsi good (1.8tsi turbo only), Skoda Octavia vRS is good. Fabia vRS same as polo GTI.
Thanks for the heads up I don't want any trouble and having to fiddle around with my car constantly I might have to look into the older polo GTI now they are pretty reliable

No I've one already, 6Rtsi 77kw 6M, and am wanting to open it up a little. It's my daily, and fun to drive, but I find it far to slow... However it's a torquey(?) little motor, which is very enjoyable in the tight corners and hills, of GC hinterlands.
Spose it depends on previous experience but I think it does need another 30kw or thereabouts

^ you wont find another 30kw because the turbo on these is just so small and was never meant for performance. The intercooler is also a limiting factor as its moulded/part of the inlet manifold so its both very small and not very efficient. An intake setup, some sort of 2.25" dump pipe and a tune would be about all you could do. Perhaps water injection might help the intercooler out and free up a little more power (and help make the power consistent).

    Cheers Lucas_R,
Yeah seems it's set up toward the fuel economy side of things...it is a very innovative engine, a lot of plastics, amazing bits of technology. I reakon water injection is a spot on solution too, the stale heat just above the bitumen saps a lot of power, the difference between 1pm and 1 am is phenomenon out where I live. But probably getting a bit to serious for a DD.

i personally have no idea where to start when it comes to the turbo, have you heard of anyone placing a bigger turbo in the 77kw

No point unless you want to change lots of plumbing and upgrade the IC as well. You'd be better off starting with water injection or as it's a water/air IC try & lower the cooling system temps somehow
