Already been answered either here or in Lucas_R's chain tensioner thread.

just got a call from the dealer regarding mine.. VW are going to cover the parts and they want me to cover the 6 hours labour to do the job at $154 an hour.... I checked the other thread but didnt see the price, wondering if its worth spending 900 odd dollars on labour at the dealer or get the parts and get someone else to do the work?

If you're in need of any 6n1 parts, odds are that I am going to have them (dismantling 2 at the moment)

Looking at the other thread, Lucas got his fixed parts & labour for $950, he went to an Audi dealership though. I'm sure it could be done cheaper through an independent. No mention about cost of original parts though.

Parts and labour on my repair was about even - parts were about $400ish (the tensioner is cheap, but you need to replace the timing case cover which was $200odd dollars and the sealant was another $50. Then some random bolts etc. the tensioner itself was only about $90.

I heard back from the dealer and VW said they'll cover 100% labour and 70% parts. Which is really good I think

That's not bad, I got offered 100% parts 0% labour.

I have logged a call with customer care as I believe/hope they can do better.... I will report back with the results.

Kar... What is your warranty situation? (Months out of warranty?)

The car is a 2010 model, I think the warranty on it should've expired around June 2013.

Got my car back today, new timing chain+tensioner and a new clutch pack. The dreaded shudder has finally disappeared. I only had to pay a 110 in the end, which was good.

Polo TSI 2010 problems - snapped timing belt

Sorry to add to a slightly old thread, had my TSi Polo in for it's 60km service.(47km done) learnt I needed a new timing chain as mine was making that noise and has been doing it randomly for a while. Luckily for me Vw are covering the cost.
