    Polo Trendline 3 Door

Just looking for a little advice as I convinced my flatmate to pit a new VW Polo ($21k) against an '08 Toyota Corolla ($15k) or a '08 Golf ($21k).

Money is tight enough, so she's only really looking at the entry level 3 door auto. It's the 1.4 so she's concerned over power, only having 3 doors and of course the depreciation. What do you guys reckon?

    I have it.

It does the job (north sydney runabout).

I am sure the TSI is a better drive, but hey, you really can't beat a 3 door car in the looks department...

get the DSG $2500 if you are driving in the city, and lazy like 90% of Australian. And the comfort pack $900 is the best investment you can make on this car (for the money you will get auto wipers, auto-dimming rear view mirror, climate controls, tyre pressure monitors systems, etc... ) these are the things that you will appreciate for the years to come!

I have the pearly black for a few hundreds more, but for a girl, settle with flash red, yellow or white, most importantly they are base colour with no premium costs.

    Cheers for that!

She's going to go back and testdrive one and see if that sells it to her. She's definitely going to try and get the comfort pack and the DSG is essential... she's not lazy, but get caught speeding in manuals apparently.

I'll let you know if she ends up joining the dub community!

I think I'd recommend the updated Fiesta with the 1.6L (80+Kw) and 6 speed DSG combo.

    Corollas are bullet proof.
For ease of ownership and reliability,if I were her, thats what I would be driving...

I test drive the 1.4 tis polo with dsg. The power with 4 people in the car is superb! Not quick but it goes better than a corolla any day

Flash Red, and White are not Sexually Discriminate i have a Flash red and it;s a bit on the aggressive side for the TSI

Corollas are well built, cheap to maintain, and are NOT rattle traps...

    Just my personal opinion.

Of course a Polo is much sexier, and a VW...

if you're not into cars and just wand a reliable A - B then the corolla is hard to beat.

it is also hard to beat in the boring as batsh*t stakes too.

way back when i bought my first golf (1999 MK4) a friend tried to convince me to buy a corolla as it was "fun to drive AND reliable"
goes without saying that i ignored him... and he is no longer my friend.
