Would have thought paying the 150 bucks is cheaper than paying them to put a new engine in whilst your driving it around with warning lights staying on
Hi everyone
I ended up buying a TDI over a GTI for economy purposes (ave. 900+ km out of a full tank baby!) and have been loving it ever since. Not a single problem with the car since I bought it... until now! *edit* the car is a 2011 Polo TDI purchased new from dealership
- It started with the glow plug light flashing. This light comes on soon as I start the car up. My car is in limp mode the whole time
- Then the engine maintenance light is also now displaying all the time.
- The diesel filter light has also come on in the last week. In the past when this light comes on, i just hit the freeway, keeps the revs up and it goes away. Doesn't seem to work this time round..
Note that the car starts fine, every time..
I know I need to get the car checked out, but I refuse to go into a dealership (its $150 bucks for them to just run the diagnostic!) Do any of you guys have recommendations on where I can get the car looked at that won't cost me an arm and a leg? Or perhaps a forum member with the tools and know-how can do the diagnostics for me in return for a fair price..
I am in the inner west area of Sydney
Thanks in advance guys

Go to the dealership or at least someone with knowledge of DPF - it's probably just a G505 sensor, but you need it fixing ASAP otherwise you're up for a new DPF - $3000 + labour...

I have VCDS and can run the diagnostic, im on the northern beaches. Work out of Balmain but not back at work for another week or so.
I'm over in Liverpool if you want to bring it around for a scan.
