Our new DSG gearbox has arrived. Car is now booked for early next month (in order to receive a complimentary loan car). Fingers crossed the transplant goes well.

Huh? It's under warranty. Sorry you didn't have the same level of support from your dealer. Feel free to speak to your ex-dealer and quote our story.

    Enjoy your French connection.

yeh so was mine but apparantly they fixed it with a software update...BS to that. I think I will stay away from VW until they at least fix the dsg7 and their customer care. good luck again and I am very much enjoying the french connection

The DSG 7 seems to be fine with me since purchase *touch wood* for me, its how you bed the gearbox in and how you break the bit*h in xD

Here we go again, trying to blame the customer for an inherently risky design.

Mine is fine, too, as are most people's, but I just consider myself lucky.

Who am I blaming again? (your sentencing and articulation suggests i'm saying the owner is solely to blame?)

Giving a personal account of my experience with my car.

... I'm pretty sure its not. The chief engineer told me its bad software which then causes too many shift or poorly timed shifts that then causes the DSG box to overheat, although not overheat enough to trigger the DSG overheating lamp. But overtime damages the gearbox in the long term or short term depending on how long your DSG lasts. You are lucky though having a working DSG. Luck of the draw really...

Sorry Hail22, didn't mean to offend, but yes, you've interpreted my sentencing and articulation correctly. I didn't realize (due to your sentencing and articulation) that you were referring to your experience only. When you say "It's all in how you bed/break it in", I don't know how someone could interpret that sentence otherwise.

But I stand corrected. Again, no offense intended.

So, while it is the first time I've heard of the software causing the DSG to overheat, leading to failures, I think EGG is right on at least his last point - no matter how you bed/break it in, you may very well have problems with this gearbox. As he says, luck of the draw.

No problem mate miscommunication from both sides of the fence, no harm done apologies for my poor articulation.
