Congrats on a job well done. Must be a happy moment to have an inspection signed off after doing a repair like this.

The project has now completed the "back on the road" phase.

Registered and useable so user acceptance testing commenced

    UAT resulted in ...
    1. Driving it more than just a few hundred meters at a time did reveal a small coolant leak which came out of a 5mm cut in what I call the water pipe spaghetti between the waterpump and the radiator. Temporarily patched it, ordered a new OEM pipe from VW and fitted last weekend. Had to buy the whole piece of spaghetti at mucho $$$

    2. Foglight error as a result of the R style front bumper without foglights. Fixed with VCDS coding with Don's (DV52) help!

Mod Phase has now commenced .... watch this space

To be fair upgrading the brakes and the FMIC in the previous phase unfortunately meant it was never going to stay stock

We keep on learning about the nuances in the differences with the 1.8TSI in the Polo and what is in the 2.0TSI engines in the Golfs etc. You need a specific Turbo Inlet as the PCV feed connection sits on the opposite side of the bend compared to the 2.0TSIs.

Even though every site will sell you a TIP advertised as suitable for an EA888.3 2.0TSI and 1.8TSI .... trust me its not

Ended up finding a RAMAIR TIP that worked, and installed a custom CAI (RAMAIR TIP, CTS elbow and K&N pod filter). Just need to finish the heatshield still, but the sound it makes is amazing.

An IS20 is also sitting on the workbench begging me to be installed LOL

I do like the RAMAIR full CAI, just a bit pricey with the current exchange rates ... AUD pretty bad atm. This probably cost me less than half.

Did fit a Miltek cat-back the previous weekend too ... such a nice sounding exhaust.

The Milltek's are on sale at the moment so I hope you managed to grab one while they were on special. Im considering one for my Fiesta ST, how do you rate the quality of the Milltek's. The only realt turn off for me is the slip-fit design which im not a fan of - id much rather bolted flanges or v band joins.

There is a price rise coming on the Milteks I understand (forced down from the UK & a **** exchange rate). In this case, I had the Miltek sitting on a shelf since it came off my daughter's A1 when she traded that on a T-Roc late last year. Perfect fit on the Polo and still sounds amazing. Incidentally, this particular 1 was actually made for a 2014 Skoda Fabia RS and so far I had it successfully on the A1 and now the GTI ...

I really like the Milteks, have 1 on my Golf R (non-valved & non-resonated) and it sounds amazing (though its LOUD), have this 1 on the GTI now and 1 on the Amarok. No issues at all with the slip-fit design in well over 3 years of use. I have actually had issues with bolted flanges on other exhausts warping with the heat (poor steel on an X-Force on the Amarok prior to the Miltek for instance). The Milteks are well made and fit well; you can tell they spend time designing and then making these. Guy from HP posted a video recently of his Miltek factory visit showing how they make them.

I'd like to get a Miltek for the T-roc R in the future, its very pricey so I need to build funds in the lease account for an "exhaust repair"

Really amazing job. Wish I had the skills (and the time) for this sort of thing. Usually end up paying for these jobs (am an IT nerd).

Black Friday sales sent all kinds of goodies my way (some for the 2 Rs to be fair), and for this GTI (which I really enjoy driving btw ... EA888.3 is such an amazing engine and so much fun in a light body). Compared to the Rs its SLOW, but still fun.

Now I have to find time to fit a downpipe, rear swaybar and some RE003s allround (been on backorder). After years of AWD, a FWD scrambling for traction is ... well ... interesting ...
