The Polo R WRC, VW revealed to Top Gear, sends all its power to the front wheels. Vigorous torque steer ahoy!
Oh snap! FWD...no thanks...especially with all that power and such a light car...way over the top xD

Still not convinced seeing as Drive states the car will be awd yet all other sources say fwd. Drive say 155kw golf gti motor, others say 160kw+ 2 litre (unconfirmed) motor.

Once it enters production, then I'll believe the specs but saying it will be priced the same as a golf GTI I think is folly. Why price your volume model out of contention with an R model when a golf R is theoretically only $10k more......

Would I have one though? Hell yes!

So VW has to produce 2500 in order to achieve homologation.
details here: VW Drops New Photos of 217HP Polo R WRC Limited Production Version - Carscoops

Short story, 2.0TSI and 6MT, should be an absolute beast when tuned since it's essentially the Golf GTI engine.

Not sure why they'd need a production run for homologation when the street car is fundamentally so different from the road car.

It's not like the old Group N rally cars which were bona fide street cars but with some limited modification (as specified by the rules), that brought us the old Imprezas and Evos.
