only just noticed this...as in the real deal... PP, C/R gbox, and detailing of a true period race car???...lucky bstrd!

Went for a lap Brindabella (Uriarra crossing, Mtn Creek Rd, Paddies River, Brindabella Rd, Cotter Rd in a mates tarmac Series 2 RX7 rally car...pretty tame due of a healing compound Tib / Fib fracture ( The Fracture Clinic - dbw - dirtbikeworld.net Members Forums ).

Even still, it stired something deep inside.

Anyway the RS1 bodes well for an AWD 2.0l Polo R whhich might be more appealing than a 1.6 FWD, at least to me.

mmmm <1200kg, tuned with Haldex controller and stiff rear sway bar might just get there...

well... it's not going to be <1200kg when the Polo GTI is already 1189kg. The AWD system that is in the Golf R adds 125kg odd so...

It seems annoying for VW to release an R version when so many people have been waiting, and will still be waiting for their GTI's for quite some time.

I don't know about the rest of you, but it's nice to own the "top of the range" of a particular model; so people who bought Polo GTI's thinking it would be best Polo money could buy might feel a little disappointed.

It's like I'd almost prefer an RS4 over an R8 V8 simply because the RS4 was the best A4 Audi could make, whereas the V8 R8 is the inferior version of the V10; silly I know! Actually, I'd still take an R8 V8 actually, come to think about it, but nonetheless the same feeling exists.

Yeah VW are doing funny things atm, I especially dont like how they automatically just stop making the VW Golf R 3door, just for the ****ty looking Scirocco R. Like the market place for 3door Golf R's IMO is pretty much on the high side

I think VW have done the numbers on 3 Door Rs and saw that there isn't much damage to sales if they delete it. Remember they never intended to import it until certain enthusiasts complain. Now I assume these people have bought their 3 door R and VW can quietly drop it
