24 years after my driving licence runs out.... Chuff.

I think if they put in the new 7 speeder found in the Tiguan (not the dry clutch version in the Polo GTI), it might be a good fit. That already has been bolted to an AWD system too.
The Tiguan 7 speeder seems to be rated for more torque than even the old 6 speeder in the GTI IIRC.
I find most 6 speeder DSGs to have too far a gap between 5th and 6th. I get that 6th is overdrive, but it just feels too big a compromise. The 7th cog for the 911TT v2s IMHO is what gave it the edge over the GTR 6 speeder for long enough tracks![]()
As much cas I'd love a small powerful rear driver that isn't a BMW, how does RWD fit the picture more than AWD?
No dobut 'driver nanny' will be as bad as recent trends to quell the entertainment too; luv to be wrong though.
...might go build another rotor or Escort and give up on modern for entertainment...
only just noticed this...as in the real deal... PP, C/R gbox, and detailing of a true period race car???...lucky bstrd!
Went for a lap Brindabella (Uriarra crossing, Mtn Creek Rd, Paddies River, Brindabella Rd, Cotter Rd in a mates tarmac Series 2 RX7 rally car...pretty tame due of a healing compound Tib / Fib fracture ( The Fracture Clinic - dbw - dirtbikeworld.net Members Forums ).

Even still, it stired something deep inside.
Anyway the RS1 bodes well for an AWD 2.0l Polo R whhich might be more appealing than a 1.6 FWD, at least to me.
mmmm <1200kg, tuned with Haldex controller and stiff rear sway bar might just get there...
