No offence...but why did you make a new thread when you could of posted in the Polo R Wrc thread?
Hi everyone, I am thinking of getting a Polo GTI.
I come across from whirlpool while searching pricing for a MY12.5 Polo GTI. I haven't had one yet as still to find out the best deal out there.
I saw a post about $31K but would like to check if the price can come closer to RRP $28,990, standard, with no waiting list.
Then another post about MY13 Polo GTI will come with Detroit wheels. Looks really great. Yesterday, a news comes out about upcoming Polo R (I reckon the siblings of Audi A1 Quattro perhaps)?
So, here is the link: Volkswagen Polo R: ‘extremely sporty’ model coming 2013 | Car Advice
Let me know if it's worth to wait for MY13 Polo GTI or even the new Polo R or purely enjoy MY12.5 then sell it next year and get Mk7 instead?
There is also bizarre thread on Polo R WRC http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...wrc-71782.html
Mod, feel free to merge.
FYI, copied from my first post on http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...3-a-71833.html

I think it's fair to start a new one. He's asking about buying the production model of the Polo R WRC Street, whereas the other thread initial focus was on the proper Polo WRC Rally.
Any who, it'll be hard to tell whether or not VWAU will bring the Polo R here. It took them about 3 years to get the Scirocco here because they couldn't find a business case for it. But they might bring it over to best out competition, you never know.

2013 would = 2014 for Australia, then your competing against the new generation of cars from BMW, Mercedes, Alfa Romeo, Citroen and Renault.
Also there is no official Volkswagen press release, they only stated it may be logical due to the hemogolation of the WRC R.
Have to wait and see however 2014 in the 6R would mean your buying a car with a 1-2 year appeal span before the Mk6 Polo is announced...which would hurt sales/production...idk
True, if the 6R Polo R doesn't have at least some sort of mechanical LSD or AWD I'm not sure it could beat an MBQ based Polo GTI. Especially if the MBQ Polo GTI has the rumoured tricky torque vectoring traction control the MBQ based Mk7 Golf GTI will have.
Germans love making crazy hot versions right at the end of production, look at the BMW 1M Coupe.
My bet is it won't be a full fat R but a Polo R WRC special edition which they'll only make 500 of, kinda like that A1 Quattro.
