    Added 3 litres from 0-5000Km. 3 Litres from 5000- 15,000. From 15,000km service to now (22,000) added approx 600ml.
Was told from dealer consumption from 0-15,000Km normal and will slow down alot after 15,000km service. Consumption since 15,000km service been tiny (600ml in 7000km).

My Polo 2011 GTI used from top mark on dip stick to oil engine light coming on in 220 KM. Has clocked over 26000KM and goes well apart from oil probs. Always treat my cars well but certinally like to give it a nudge when i feel like it . I have now officially started a consumption test but i fear it will be as bad as my own. I am not sure what to do if i have to decide. Do i demand a new motor (which they will most certinally reject) do i accept a "patch up job" with new "modified" harder rings which a different mechanic claimed was on there TPI chart. As far as i know i didnt think they had a fix yet?? As usual everyone (VW AUS/ dealers/ mechanics) are all acting like the three monkeys and always ignore any infomation i tell them regarding the high amount of engine problems (hi oil consumption) around the world. Stick to the same line "regarding MY vehicle only". What should i do if it turns out bad? Thanks

    Hi!

I don't have a Polo GTI but I do have Seat Ibiza Cupra 1.4TSI

All I can say: My car suffered of high oil consumption and so VW decided to change the piston rings. Everything seem'd fine but my car started to have a knocking noise comming from the engine under low acceleration (between 2000-3000rpm) needless to say it started right after the piston rings change!

I then decided to take the car back to the dealer and make sure they would find the source of the noise. After 2 weeks without the car they told me it was fine and the noise could be related to different piston rings or oil and I shouldn't be worried (ofc I was worried).

2 Weeks later my car had power loss EPC and Exhaust lights came on. Called Seat Assistance and they took the car back to the dealer. The next day they called me telling that my car had low compression on cylinder 4. They are waiting for an answer from Seat(headquarters) to start ripping the engine apart.

So, what do you guys think? Was the piston rings causing this? Bad work from VW mechanics?

Comment: Noticed low oil level on dipstick around 1300km. Check oil light came on at 1350km. Added ~700ml of Penrite Enviro+ 5W-30.
Wasn't running-in the engine hard, but wasn't taking it easy either. Always waited for the oil temp to warm up before pushing it. I only drive very short distances each day to and from work so I guess it isn't ideal for the engine to be working like that. But I do take it out for weekend/late night cruises

Comments: Changed oil and filter at 600km, 1200km to Mobil1 5w30. Hard engine break in. Oil level on dipstick stayed the same.

Oil light come on a number of times, topped up each time. Dropped in at Wodonga VW (live in Melbourne) and they topped up with a litre as well. The bloke in servicing suggested I tell them at my first service (booked at Barloworld Morrabin shortly) and suggest a consumption test. Will wait and see what they say???? Seems far too excessive, but runs great.
