i didnt know VW were known for handing out nice discounts left, right and center, as your post reads.... it's good to know, but it doesnt explain why modestly optioned cars in dealership lots are still $12k above RRP, for ex demo (at least in melbourne).
as for the type/number of options- a month per option in build time, is it?
given that you're quite knowledgable regarding this, i'd genuinely like to ask- could you name other car manufacturers who ask their customers to wait 9 months etc for delivery, because of sat nav, sun roof and leather, for example?
