    Polo GTI stolen

My Black MY12.5 Polo GTI 5 door was stolen from my driveway last week on Thursday or Friday. Only 5000kms on her.

I was staying at my girlfriends house and had left my car at home and my house was burgled and the bastards found my spare key in my top drawer. Laptops/digtial cameras and playstation stolen but the buggers got my Polo!

Police said there is a low chance of recovery and I am hoping insurance will pay out the full value!

Stolen from Wellington, New Zealand. Its such a distinctive car it may show up, but the police have better things to do than chase my car.

Oh man, I'm so sorry, that sucks! I'd be devastated if mine was stolen too. Hope insurance pays out fully on it. Fingers crossed.

Yeah, I paid $36,000 NZD in August 2012. It was a demo with 250kms on it. The full retail price here is $38,250. I saw one recently going for $32,000 same kms as mine. I will certainly put up a good fight to get a good value back from the insurer!

Unfortunatley you seem to be correct with the amount of crappy NZ Police shows we get over here. Motorway patrol, Send in the dogs etc...

fingers crossed for you mate! Though I might be taking that money and buying a Golf GTI instead.....

This is the number one way of housebreaking thieves, get the car keys and they have a quick way to take all the loot with them..
Get a safe and lock your keys and small valuables in it.

I'd stick with the mk6 though, being so heavily based on the Mk5 unless you get an oil burner which is rarer than a polo, it would be a safer option than the Mk7. As shown with the 6R, and the Mk4 golf as well, big introduction if new systems, tech and chassis updates results in, well, 114 pages about oil consumption in a single model and 113 pages of problems...

Exactly! I'd be loathe to get the first model of any car. Get the one-year update when they've found all the bugs and started sorting them out.

I for one am looking forward to the new ea888 engines in the new golfs. It also has to be said that I cannot complain about my 1.2t, beautiful engine and never a hickup - more than I can say for my DSG which after my re-adaption is still driving poorly. It's probably 50% better but still is misbehaving. The new golf r is firmly set in my sights for the upcoming years...
