    Polo GTI Servicing

    Hi guys,

About to hit the 15,000km mark on the GTI (way too many interstate trips ) and looking to book in for a service.

Where do you all usually get your VW's serviced. From what i've read pricing varies significantly between shops - even VW dealerships themselves. Any suggestions on where to go? BTW i'm in Hawthorn VIC.

Why not just ring around and find out who has the better rate??

If you don't know where the VW dealers are in the Melbourne area, just google it. There are also a number of VW specialists around Melbourne too.

Bayford in Epping was the cheapest I found, but that's because from buying the car there, I got a 7.5% discount. Then again, I wouldn't take the car there though so I have been in discussions with Burwin VW in Ferntree Gully. John the service manager seems like a good guy and has been sorting out some issues Dav (on here) has had with his GTI and sorted my car out when it continuously kept throwing fault codes for the climatronic (wrong software loaded into it). I also deal with Steven there. Out of all the dealerships I have been to and spoken with, along from Gerald Slaven in canberra (bit too far to travel) their service and spare parts departments are pretty damn good. Passenger car sales on the other hand.... There are a few members on here with horror stories....

I've bought two cars from Burwin VW in the last few months, annoyingly, have had issues with both of them and Burwin have gone out of their way to assist and rectify those issues. Their slogan is 'we really do care' and so far, they've lived up to that.

On another experience, a mate had some issues with his 118TSI Golf purchased from another less helpful dealer and Burwin VW resolved the issues he had (ignition plug TPI - they immediately knew what was the issue) whereby two other dealers said "SORRY MATE, NO ISSUES HERE - MUST BE BAD FUEL".
