Toyota 86 comes in auto. 2drs but sometimes you have to compromise.

    The Opel hot hatch?

    Fabia vRS hatch or wagon?

Astra GTC. It's 2 door. I think they have some shopping trolley 4 doors.

Have a look at the vRS wagon. It'll either work for you or not.

Spot on that's exactly the car I have been considering, the new turbo clio. Depends entirely on how it's priced.
Don't forget, current Clio is polo size for golf money, new in is also dsg/DCT only and it is also a dry clutch unit. Considering it is more powerful and has more torque than the polo GTI...... Tis why I crossed it off my list.

Stage 2+ Intercooler Carbon Intake Downpipe Swaybar DV+ Remsa.

Yeah but it's a Getrag built 6speed EDC from Nissan , with the same r&d team that worked on the R35 GTR box, so fingers crossed they get it right. But with all things new there will be bugs, hopefully they have learnt from VWs mistakes. Thus on my list still but only if its a drive away price of sub $34k which means it needs to be under $30k retail.

    Polo GTi Replacement

Not to be rude, but so what? The dq200 is built by Borg Warner and developed by the same engineering team that developed the dsg in the Bugatti veyron which was developed off the foundation of the Porsche PDK used in the Le Mans winning 962 I think it was. Still doesn't mean it's not a piece of sh*t though!

My concern is this: if an 1100kg car that produces less than 200nm of torque can fry clutches in a dry clutch dsg, (granted this is primarily software related, so long as the mechatronics unit doesn't die) then what hope does a 147kw, 249nm hot hatch have...

Alfa Giulietta? Bit bigger, bit slower, but a good looking hatch and has the TCT with either the 2.0 diesel or 1.4 turbo.

    A decent alternative?
MY13 Polo GTI, also Candy White with pleather

None taken, i just hope they get it right and so what ? tough luck VW. Like I've said if they engineer a mechatronics or clutch units that has a lifespan up to a threshold suitable for the mass market you will always get a proportion of those units failing no matter what the conditions of use.
