This is very helpful...Thanks a lot.
Just 2 quick questions
1. If I put my music on a SDHC card mean that I've got full control of playlists etc?
2. What is 9WZ bluetooth?
I've got an RNS510 and 9WZ bluetooth installed in my Polo GTI....works well with everything integrated into MFD and MFSW and cost just over $1500 all up (installed) but if you want full ipod control you'd need to add the MDI as well so there'd be a few hundred on top of that.
Personally I'm happy with sticking my music on a 32Gb SDHC card rather than going with ipod/iphone so gave the MDI a miss...

2. What is 9WZ bluetooth?
1. RNS-510 doesn't support playlists per se but it does support a 'random' mix function.
2. The 9WZ bluetooth unit is part number 3C8 035 730 and this is the guy I bought mine from.
No integrated Bluetooth option on the RCD 510, but one of the chaps in the UK has fitted a Bluetooth and DAB radio kit to his new GTI: EXCLUSIVE: Is this the first customer new Polo GTI in the UK? | Polo DriverEXCLUSIVE: Is this the first customer new Polo GTI in the UK? | Polo Driver

is the Audio pack $770 inc satnav?
Rcd510 is just a double din touch screen. The rns 510, not avail for polo is the sat nav double din unit
how did you get the RNS installed? - ive been hunting like a mad man as how i can get this done - one VW place is telling me it cant, another is saying it can but it costs >$5K but i figure it couldnt be that hard. Did you have it installed by VW, or.....? I considered buying the unit online then having someone installing it - or giving it a shot myself but have read reports that the bluetooth didnt work properly with steering controls or MFD...
can you shed some light on this for me?
Hi benni.
I bought a unit on ebay and had my local VW service centres install it and an ebay sourced Bluetooth (got lazy and couldn't be bothered doing the cable run for the bluetooth). Some service centres seem unwilling so maybe shop around.
Worst to worst, there are some guides floating around on how to install it all and beyond a few hassles with removing the A pillar and not having an airbag deploy in your face, it doesn't seem that hard.
As far as coding goes, VCDS is your friend. The service centre who installed mine couldn't get the MFD integration working but a few minutes with VCDS and I got it all working. If you don't have a cable, there are people on the forum who'll help for a case of beer!
Good luck!
