POLO GTI - Options Vs. Aftermarket

I tested a Polo GTI this morning and i've been reading through this forum and the AV forum. I want to place an order for one tomorrow but I have some questions about the options vs. the aftermarket route.

    1) Can I connect the iPod MDI to an aftermarket AV & navigation solution from Pioneer or Sony?

    2) Can I connect an aftermarket AV solution to the telephone buttons on the steering wheel? (some posters suggest this can be done with a visit to the dealer to upgrade the phone's hardware).

    3) Is there a good AV dealer in Sydney who can get this done without making it look bad (ie - no dangling microphones etc).

Other than that, I'm thinking GTI 5dr / Black / Comfort & Audio... any thoughts on the bi-xenons? Seems a bit steep at $1600?

    3) Either FHRX in Sydney for Audio, or The Car Kit Company for Bluetooth install.

I'd get the Xenon's for sure, they're a great feature - and retrofit is expensive down the track...

if u have money to burn, then dont worry about getting the vw audio stuff. its a shame that dynaudio dont offer a package for the polo, so ur better off spending money on an aftermarket unit.
from all reports, the dynaudio in the golf and passat is awesome for the money ~$2600, so if u budget $3k, then u will get a nice aftermarket unit in the polo. double din touchscreen pioneer headunit, some nice splits up front, and speakers out back, powered by an amp. fhrx do good work, but its a pretty standard install.
getting the steering wheel buttons to work might be a challenge at this stage

Interesting thread and useful as I am to pick up Polo GTI within the next week.

At the moment, car has standard audio etc system (310?).

If I want integrated bluetooth (for phone) and full ipod controls (ie. not just an aux. input), am I better to get an aftermarket solution?

Willing to spend up to $1,500...if I can get user friendly sat nav included within this price even better.

    Advice sought.

    Thanks in advance.

From wat I understand retro fitting the rns510 isn't viable into the polo, yet.
Prob better off with a pioneer avic or similar. They go for about $1k nowadays
