    Polo GTI Oil Spec

Just checked the dipstick and found a little low. Checked the owners manual for oil spec and found just part numbers for VW oil, no viscosity table. Anyone know spec and any recommendations on brand??

    5W-30 (507.00 spec).

Don't fill it up yourself. It gets very expensive, very quickly.

(I know, I have had my engine replace already).

Just spoke to the dealer, $30.00 for 1 litre top up oil, but if we keep the empty bottle they will fill it for free at next service.

I just go to the dealership and they fill it up for free.

You can buy 5L of Liqui-Moly 5W-30 for about $80.

It's what I use and what a few people on the forums recommend.

I bought the 1 litre bottle and got the dealer to keep refilling it, but it used so much I just kept going back to the dealer for refills otherwise would have cost a fortune in oil!

Topped up with 650ml, 7000kms done since last oil change (by dealer). Thinking this is OK?

Yeah, not bad... I warned you about that dealership

Most dealerships will do free top ups no questions asked.

Whoa....thought all dealerships offered FREE oil top ups? Both mine do, although one is too far to travel to just for this, so
asked for a complimentary 1L bottle to be provided with Polo...tick

Will provide our own oil (Liqui-Moly Top Tech 4200) when servicing.....just done this for the Golf (saved just under $95 servicing costs)
    5L @ Autobarn $74.99, (cos I asked for a better price)
LM is very popular oil over on the Golf thread too, bonus the same viscosity works for both Golf and Polo.
