Exclamation Polo GTI intermittent rev dropping issue

    Hi guys,

I've got a very intermittent issue going on with my MY14 Polo GTI.

In the past year it's happened on maybe around 3 occasions, but over the last week in particular its now happened twice.

Hoping someone may know the cure; i doubt VW will be able to diagnose as the issue is extremely intermittent - chances are they wont ever witness it occurring!

    Two things happen:

    1. When stopped - revs drop until car nearly stalls, then pick back up again...then drop again...then pick up...
This doesnt go away until the car is switched off and started up again in 10-30 mins time. After this time it wont happen again.

    2. When driving - car almost hesitates when around <20% throttle is applied. Anything past this and you cant notice any hesitation.

Heres a video of what the revs look like when the car is stopped. I'm not touching the throttle at all, except at the 12 second mark where I rev it only to see the revs drop back down again.

Same thing happened to mine over a similar time period. Never worked out what was causing it and I traded it in before it could become an expensive problem to solve. I had a few fault codes but nothing persistent.

    Thanks for your reply mate.

Ended up getting it looked at. Looks like a MAP sensor. What a bummer - car barely has 40Kms on it!
