Polo GTi Intercooler - need some specifications

    Hi All,

EDIT: To be clear, it's a 2010 CAVE 1.4TSi, looking for details on the stock intercooler.

I'm building a new intercooler for my polo with a friend, but before we start we need a few bits of information about the stock intercooler in order to reproduce the mounts, and the piping.

Most importantly we are wondering if anybody knows the OD of the pipes on the inter cooler, so that the stock charge pipes will fit.

Secondarily if somebody has an intercooler outside of the car, does anybody know the total length between the two pipes, even just an estimate would be great.

Just looking to work out what materials to pick up before we get in to it, as there's a few hours work just pulling the front bar off of the car and putting it back on again to get it done in a weekend.

May I ask why you're building one? Is it because you're having difficulty finding an FMIC for the twincharger these days or because you just get a kick out of fabricating your own parts?

If it's the former, try one of these - WagnerTuningUK - VAG 1.4 1.8 2.0 TSI Competition Intercooler Kit

I've got one in my Audi A1 Sport and it's fantastic. I got it installed by the same guys who do my tuning here in Canberra and they said it was SNUG. It took up every millimetre of space allowed for it. But, snug with no cutting or permanent removal of parts is fine with me.

Late reply, fabricating the FMIC allowed me to go as big as possible in the car. It was also significantly cheaper, and faster turn around.

As for the specs I was looking for the FMIC pipes are 2.25" OD, distance between the inside of the two pipes is 750mm.
