    Hi Guys

Has anyone who used MotoMan's running in method experienced high oil usage? (Break In Secrets--How To Break In New Motorcycle and Car Engines For More Power)
Gambit, you reported no sign of oil use at 2,500km - still no issues?
Really excited! I'm finally picking up my Oryx (pearl) white, bi-xenons CTHE GTI on Sunday after 2 months owning it and waiting till I could clear building materials from the 2nd garage. (I didn't want its stablemate Reflex TSI to have to stay outside in Auckland winter weather!) So I want to run it in in the best possible way.
    Cheers!

    Exactly, thank you Atypic

RoknRob, I think you need an engine rebuild mate because my (limited already) oil consumption has literally stopped. Oil level has not moved in 5000kms of hard driving since switching to Fuchs.

On a side note for the last 5000kms I have dedicated all driving to M and driving the car properly, not like the f**kwit software nerds at VAG hq programmed into the D program which results in idiotic shift points and limited down-shifts. Perhaps this could also have contributed to the lack of consumption, perhaps it was the tune update as well...

    I did, yes.

Thanks for the opinion, gavs - I intend to ask for another oil consumption test when they pull my car in for the recall.

It's an interesting thought that driving in M may make a difference, but I bought this car in part because of the remarkable fuel economy, for such a performing car, and I certainly don't see that when I let myself loose!

I feel I should get the fuel economy I paid for... I shouldn't have to sacrifice that to save on the oil... so I hope they will address this next time I go in, too.

Mate under ADR I believe that at last consultation, the production vehicle only has to retain 30% of the componentry of the test vehicle, this is across all tests including stability control etc. which is why when we test production vehicles at work, they never even reach the requires speeds for the tests because they're nothing like the vehicles that were used for certification and as shown, why a vehicle with esc turned on can still roll quite easily.

    Hi Guys

Brought my car in for its 5th oil consumption test now (done 10,000kms) and its still losing 700ml per 1000kms..the dealer has advised me there is second updated ventilation valve, air connection pipe and ventilation hose for the engine which will decrease the use of oil...has anyone had this done to their car yet?
This will be the second attempt at changing the hose etc..hope it works this time as I am getting sick of having to bring it in all the time for an oil top up!

    Gavs..what exactly is Fuchs?

    Thanks
    Scott

2200km from my engine rebuild, NO oil has been burnt. There is obviously a build issue with these engines. Push for engine rebuilds! I went from 1L/1000km to no oil usage at all.

    Hi Zakarados

How did you push for an engine rebuild?

Is there any way of having the cats inspected?
Just cleaned the car and i swear there was 4-5mm of black stuff around the tailpipes
Needs oil as well. Need to drive it upto temp and inspect but coldish the stick was bone dry.

Park it outside VW with signage uses more oil than a rotary or something.

I know ill be taking toolboxes of the truck and putting the car on the tray and leaving it parked outside the dealership with big banners if they dont play ball.
