Sad to say but after only 2000km my engine oil light is on. So i read through the post and please correct me if I'm wrong but when I go to the dealer I should ask for
1. the new hose part?
2. top up the oil ( if the light comes back on too quickly then try using Liqui Moly Top Tech 4200)?

That really is staggering after just 2000km. Are you sure its the engine light or is it the oil pressure light? Many people easily get the two mixed up...but if it is definately the engine light do not drive it. Have roadside assist take it to the dealer.Originally Posted by k0e1

Real possibility it wasn't full from the dealer though mate...

Hopefully that is the case. Took it in today he guy added 1.4L. Gonna monitor it after the next 1k and see if it moves. Gav would changing the engine oil make a difference? If so just choose anyone of the ones that you recommended like Moly etc?

Ok took mine for a nice little fang on Saturday and probably consequently now need an oil top up! Took 500ml in approx 3,500km so I'm crossing my fingers it stays at that current usage which is not too bad and well within the guidelines in the manual.

Curiously, what type of engine oil the VW dealerships are using over there? Is it a 5W30 504/507 VW Spec?

Petrol engines not on the LongLife regime (i.e. variable service intervals) can use either 502/505 or 504/507 oils.
Accordingly, some dealers in Australia use 502/505, others use 504/507.

504/507 is a higher grade of engine oil due to the better basestock oil used and higher HTHS(High Temperature High Shear) specs.
If I am not wrong it has a lower oil lose rate than a regular synthetic oil.
