Having just had my engine replaced a few months ago, the oil lamp came on again after 5000kms
Oil was topped up this morning at the local stealer but if the lamp comes on again then it's straight to VCAT and we'll see how useful the Victorian lemon laws really are

I love the car but I am not going to drive a ticking timebomb around

Just turn the ignition off for a few minutes and then back on. I've had the same oil pressure alert since the 15K service so I had VW and Euroclass (where I had the service done) do a diagnostics check...which revealed jack sh#t. I take Euroclass' verdict that it's electrical as opposed to mechanical and most likely due to something being knocked about. I cannot offer anymore info other than to say I now only get that alert once every few thousand kms and the car seems fine mechanically. Yes that beeping frightens the crap out of you but I wouldn't be too concerned.

    Good Luck.

What a disappointment I'm still only up to 3000km or so on the new engine so I guess I shouldn't be too excited then. So far no movement at all on the dipstick.

Once you all get a new engine or overhaul, break in the piston rings properly. It has worked for mine, over 7000km and not a single top up done. However, I change my oil very often during the running in period.

From my point of view it's only question of luck, not break in or drive uses (even if I agree with your break-in mode).
In our survey about 50% of TSI Twin Charged are faulty and the same is for the replaced engines...

Shame on VW, let's see if this miraculous oil breather pipe will solve the problem (too few cases till now to be analyzed...), if not I don't know what could happen... Many many cases in Italy already put in the hands of the lawyers...

    Hi

This is from finland and the owner of that GTI works in VW. His car was ok as you can read from image. His car has performance software and still oil consumption was pretty low. As you can see the normal oil usage for this engine is only 0,1 litres per 1000 km, he said it's still high but he didn't care because it's Turbocharged engine, for normal engine that 0,1 is too much.

So if VW employer can have a very good TSI engine so why don't we??? If they can give me some money I can fix the engine by myself, I can

So don't expect too much from just a pipe as that the correct well manufactured engine not need any new pipes so that's not the solution. And yes the new pipe is the only official repair they do.

Tsuku = pihled it's the same 1 person who wrote those messages. He just explain his Youtube video text in finnish language. Video is private atm??? Gues why

    Cheers!

Another good result (the second till now) after pipe changing: in the first 1.000Km oil level unchanged...

IMHO anyway it is too early to declare victory...

Only engines older than CAV 261914 need a new pistons and oil rings etc, cant remember when the Forged pistons came to production but those are better ones, thought. New engines are way much better as oil consumption is 'only' about 1 litre per 7000 km in many cases. If that pipe can fix any super high oil consumption like 0,85 litres per 1000 km which is very usual here in Finland so I would like to know who is the GENIUS behind it and what are the technical specifications and can we ever see that solution I mean how it is done, really? I Already asked it from finnish importer but they won't tell me any details, maybe it's something top secret special infomation...anyway atm nobody can prove that it works without other engine parts like new pistons so believe what you want but remember that VW will do anything 'dirty' that they don't have to replace all engines

Here in Finland so many GTI's already sold after 1 year or less, we like the car but the engine is nightmare even it's powerful and fun

IMHO the pipe could cure only the effects and not the causes...

Too much blow-by in certain conditions: piston or rings or cylinders should be modified...! The oil breather is something that hide the sealing problem...
BTW, if it works no problem: we have at least two cases in Italy that have high oil consumption (1liter per 1000Km) but rolling the car on the dyno they measured about 181hp: this means that the engine is sane, even if burns so much oil (probably only in certain conditions of use)...
Burning too much oil for a long time is bad, the engine will have some problems for sure (deposit and soot), but if the new oil breather will solve this problem, well, nothing to worry about...

Let's see the modified GTIs in the next 5.000/10.000Km how will be...
