I didn't say it was right or good, just what the "company line" would be.

Hopefully yours will continue to seal up.

As you know, also after engine or piston rings replacement the oil comsumption may be high again.
This is happening also with the latest engines mounted.

In Italy people who have this unresolvable problem have just started a legal action again VW to have their money back, returning the car to the dealer: www.polovw.it

    Shame on VW

I haven't been able to speak to the dealer today but they had my polo all day today and have left a message on my phone to say they believe the turbocharger is faulty. I'm guessing I will be getting a new one - if the seals are faulty and allowing all that oil through I would imagine the oil consumption should stop immediately with the new part?

If that's the cause then yes. Don't know how a turbo can possibly chew that much oil without other signs though. Dav had his turbo replaced due to boost related issues.

If this oil consumption problem is well known why does VW Insist that car only need a oil change at 15,000 km seems to need topping up every few hundred km but to use 4.6 liters total capacity of engine in under 3000 km is ridicuolous .

Additive pack is renewed every time you top up. In some ways, those with oil burners have better engine protection than those whose engines have sealed up.
